Caratteristiche:
Dopo una prima stagione un po’ ondivaga, considerando le aspettative iniziali, ma con un decisa inversione di rotta in positivo alla fine, si presenta con più esperienza e con il dente avvelenato per la sconfitta contro UConn.

Raggiunge quasi i 2 m, non male per un playmaker, perché gli permette di sfruttare mismatch contro avversari diretti più bassi, sia per i jumper, sia per le linee di passaggio o per strappare un rimbalzo (3.2 rpg).

Non è il playmaker vecchia maniera, che fa degli assist il proprio punto di forza; spesso tende ad attaccare il canestro sia in isolamento sia in transizione, è ottimo in questa fase dell’attacco, con risultati anche migliori rispetto al tiro dalla media.

Per quanto riguarda la fase difensiva, può migliorare, ma ha già un ottimo potenziale oltre che un buon fisico che gli permette di non subire eccessivamente i cambi difensivi e di marcare anche in pianta stabile una guardia; sa mettere pressione sul portatore di palla, è abbastanza veloce come gioco di gambe e ciò lo rende ottimo negli aiuti; dovrebbe migliorare la difesa uno contro uno.

Deve migliorare nel tiro dalla lunga distanza (35.1%), in realtà è ancora un tiratore "emotivo": ci sono momenti in cui gli entra di tutto (a gennaio ha tenuto il 43% da 3), ma deve essere più continuo, altrimenti le difese lo "battezzano".

Uno dei maggiori difetti è il numero di palle perse, spesso forza inutilmente, gli piace avere la palla in mano, anche quando magari ci sarebbe la chance per l'open shot di un compagno; oppure si distrae concedendo palle perse “stupide”. Spesso conclude una penetrazione con un floater anziché con un appoggio semplice, infine potrebbe e dovrebbe usare di più il fisico.

Un altro difetto, che talvolta può essere un pregio, è che è ancora troppo emotivo, talvolta si perde difensivamente e tende a lamentarsi troppo con arbitri e compagni.

Conclusioni:
prospetto interessante con ampi margini di miglioramento, il fisico è dalla sua, deve imparare a gestirsi di più in partita e a non farsi trasportare dalle emozioni; non perde mai la fiducia in se stesso, basti vedere come è stato capace di reagire alle critiche e di migliorarsi nel corso della stagione.
Verrà scelto intorno alla 25.

Storia: 

Andrew Harrison e suo fratello gemello Aaron nascono il 28 ottobre 1994 a Richmond, Texas. Si appassiona al basket fin da piccolo, tanto da giocare fino a sera inoltrata contro il fratello in interminabili 1 vs 1, Andrew commentando queste sfide: “I don’t think anyone ever won a game, Neither one of us like to lose at all, especially to each other. Either it got dark or our father would tell us to come inside. We would keep score sometimes, but it really was all about not wanting to hear each other’s mouth the next day. It’s more intense between us, and I think that’s helped us. I kind of expect perfection out of Aaron and I let him know when I think he’s doing something wrong.”

Insieme ad Aaron si iscrive alla Travis High School di Fort Bent, nel suo anno da junior mantiene 12.5 ppg 6.0 apg, 4.9 rpg e 2.1 spg, insomma un giocatore già completo, riesce persino a portare con un record di 36-4 la sua squadra alla finale del Class 5A state title contro Flower Mound Marcus.

Nonostante la sconfitta il suo nome è già sui taccuini dei più grandi college oltre a Kentucky anche Maryland, SMU, Baylor, Kansas e Arizona si contendono i servigi della giovane pg spesso paragonata a gente come Williams Rose o Evans, di quest’ultima somiglianza lo stesso Harrison dirà: “I get the Deron Williams stuff because we can both come off of picks and pull up for threes, but I first started hearing the Evans comparison in the ninth grade. I think he was still in college. I was honored to be compared to him. “We’re both big guards and we can take smaller guards off the dribble, not just with power, but speed and using the dribble. Da senior, migliora ulteriormente le sue statistiche 15.8 punti, 7.0 rimbalzi and 7.0 assist, anche quest’anno riporta la sua squadra alle finali nazionali, dove riesce finalmente a raggiungere il tanto agognato taglio della retina. Andrew è uno dei migliori prospetti della sua classe prima point guard, 3 giocatore in assoluto per ESPNU, quinto per Scout e Rivals. Il ragazzo sceglie insieme al fratello di iscriversi in uno degli atenei che negli ultimi anni ha fornito i migliori giocatori NBA, i Kentucky Wildcats di coach Cal, che di Andrew dirà: “Andrew comes in ready to play physically at the point-guard position. He’s a driver, slasher and playmaker with great size. He and his brother Aaron have the ability to be great on-ball defenders.”.

Nel suo anno da freshman al college mantiene 10.9 punti, 3.2 rimbalzi e 4.0 assist ad allacciata di scarpe, inizialmente non gioca benissimo, tende a tenere la palla troppo in mano ma con il proseguimento della stagione diventa uno dei tasselli fondamentali per l’approdo alle finals four, dove perdono contro Uconn, già una volta ha perso un titolo in finale per poi rivincerlo l’anno dopo che la storia si ripeta ancora.

Strengths: 

Big, physical combo guard ... Standing at 6'5" with a 6'8"+ wingspan, and broad-shouldered with a strong build, the point guard has great measurable ... Due to size, ability to absorb contact, and strong handle, can be difficult to keep from getting into the lane ... Good at drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line ... Shows potential to be a creative finisher around the hoop ... Endured an exorbitant amount of criticism in his freshman season at Kentucky (some of it fair, some not), but seemed to take it all in stride and was definitely a significantly improved player by the end of the season ... Adequate (but not great) shooter ... Competes and does not shy away from the spotlight ... Helped lead a talented but underachieving Kentucky team from a poor start to the 2014 National Championship Game ... Might get frustrated throughout the course of a game, but is not one to back down or lose confidence ... Well-conditioned and was able to handle a lot of minutes in his freshman season ...

Weaknesses: 

Known as somewhat of an enigma... Gives the perception that he has a bad attitude due to his poor body language on the court. There are a lot of negative feelings about the Twins among the scouting community ... Concerns persist about their attitudes and ability to play within a team concept ... Very ball dominant. Not a natural play maker when it comes to setting up teammates ... Started his college career with a terrible tendency to "dribble the air out of the ball." And while he improved as a floor general over the course of the season, he still has a long way to go ... Struggles with reading defenses, reacting, and decision making ... At times would look lost against experienced defenses and was very turnover prone ... Both Twins seemed to benefit from physically developing early. Have the Twins peaked and maxed out their potential? ... Despite the reputation for being a big and athletic guard coming out of high school, against Division 1 competition, and surely against NBA competition, he will not be able to out-quick or overpower opponents to find the same success has enjoyed ... Not necessarily one to "get into you" defensively, but can be crafty and has good hands. That being said, commits a lot of fouls -- many from being out of position and trying to make up for it by using his hands.
