Vuelta, Danny van Poppel come papà

Tale padre, tale figlio. Danny van Poppel ha vinto alla maniera di papà Jean-Claude, velocista che in carriera ha conquistato 9 tappe al Tour e alla Vuelta e 4 al Giro. La volata nel dna, insomma, trasmessa coi geni del ciclista professionista ai due figli, Boy (anch'egli in corsa) e Danny, pure da mamma Leontien van der Lienden, la prima moglie di Jean Claude, che una ciclista professionista l'ha sposata anche in seconde nozze: Mirjam Melchers. Il 22enne olandese, nel 2013 a 20 anni non ancora compiuti il più giovane al Tour dal dopoguerra a oggi, si è imposto in una volatona che pareva interminabile. Effetto non solo ottico dovuto a quella leggera ascesa che portava al traguardo di Lleida dopo 172 di media difficoltà.
