Immagine
21 Jun 2024 - The Guardian Andrew Pulver Donald Sutherland, whose acting career spanned six decades and included films such as Don’t Look Now, M*A*S*H and The Hunger Games, has died in Miami after a long illness, aged 88, his representatives said. His son, the actor Kiefer Sutherland, also shared the news on X. “With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” he wrote. “I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.” Sutherland appeared in more than 190 films and TV shows and embodied an off-kilter appeal that served him brilliantly in a series of classic 1970s movies, which gradually evolved into a veteran gravitas in the latter stages of his career. He did not win a major award for any of his film roles – and was never nominated for a conventional Oscar – but he did win two...

EVERETT COLLECTION 21 Jun 2024 - The Boston Globe By Clyde Haberman - NEW YORK TIMES Donald Sutherland, whose ability to both charm and unsettle, both reassure and repulse, was amply displayed in scores of film roles as diverse as a laidback battlefield surgeon in “M*A*S*H,” a ruthless Nazi spy in “Eye of the Needle,” a soulful father in “Ordinary People,” and a strutting fascist in “1900,” died Thursday in Miami. He was 88. His son Kiefer Sutherland, the actor, announced the death on social media. DONALD SUTHERLAND 1935-2024 - ‘Shape-shifty’ movie stalwart did it all

After ‘M.A.S.H.’ breakthrough, he had five-decade career with 150-plus roles 21 giu 2024 - The Washington Post BY ADAM BERNSTEIN Donald Sutherland, an actor of breathtaking range who became one of the most compelling players in cinema, whether portraying a misfit combat surgeon, an inscrutable cop, a grieving father or a futuristic tyrant, died June 20 in Miami. He was 88. His agency, CAA, announced the death but did not provide a specific cause. With his lilting, velvety baritone and ghoulishly expressive features — gangly frame, prominent ears, wolfish smile and chilling green eyes — Mr. Sutherland perhaps unsurprisingly began his movie career in horror films. From there, he made a leap into eccentric parts in war films, as the dimmest of “The Dirty Dozen” (1967) and the aptly named Sgt. Oddball in “Kelly’s Heroes” (1970). His breakthrough came in 1970 heading the cast of “M.A.S.H.,” a raucous and absurdist antiwar comedy set in a mobile Army hospital. The film became a cultural phen...

I NEOCON E LA NATO... DELL’APOCALISSE.

Boston guard Jaylen Brown and Celtics fans celebrate as Mavericks guard Luka Dončić gets a hand from Kyrie Irving as they leave the court after head coach Jason Kidd calls a timout in the fourth quarter.  After a stirring Game 4, the Mavs couldn’t replicate that performance and fell to the Celtics 106-88, losing the NBA Finals in five games. (Smiley N. Pool/staff Photographer) Mavs’ season came a long way Unable to recapture Game 4 magic, Mavs fall in rout 18 Jun 2024 - The Dallas Morning News BOSTON — The Mavs are coming home without the finals or the Celtics, who may not make it out of the West End for a week. The locals take their hoops seriously. Deliriously, you might say. The Bruins flamed out, the Patriots stink and the Red Sox are already a dozen games back of the hated Yankees, but the C’s came through with their Nba-record 18th title and first in 16 years, locking down streets around TD Garden for blocks in anticipation of the post-game party. Back in Dallas, meanwhile, t...
