di Dan Peterson Dopo l’Olimpiade del 1984, a Los Angeles, Bob Knight, il coach degli USA, dichiarò che Michael Jordan era il più grande giocatore di tutti i tempi. Questo commento mi ha sorpreso perché Knight è un allenatore che bada al lavoro di équipe e che disprezza giocatori “da spettacolo” come Michael Jordan. Anzi, non ero d’accordo con Knight. Per me, Jordan era un bravo giocatore individual , grande atleta, grande talento e dotato di grande carisma, ma non all’altezza di campioni come Larry Bird, Julius Erving e Magic Johnson, giocatori bravi, ma soprattutto, locomotive-trascinatori-vincenti. Non ero solo in questo pensiero. Anzi, trovavo tanti allenatori della NBA, ospiti al mio camp a Salsomaggiore, o quelli che vedevo nelle leghe estive nel New Jersey o a Los Angeles, che condividevano pienamente il mio parere.
