David Wagner (Head Coach First Team)

David Wagner became Huddersfield Town’s Head Coach upon his appointment on 5 November 2015.

The first man from outside the UK and Ireland to lead the First Team, David started his managerial career at Borussia Dortmund II in 2011, where he enjoyed had a successful four years at the helm.

After his Under-23 side won promotion in Wagner’s first season in charge, David then oversaw the highest league finish for the German outfit’s second team two years later.

A key part of Wagner’s philosophy throughout his time in Dortmund was the development of young players for the First Team, most notably helping the progress of current German international Erik Durm.

Before taking up coaching, Wagner’s playing career saw him turn out for the likes of Frankfurt and Mainz but most notably at Schalke as a striker, where he was part of the 1997 UFEA Cup winning squad.

Wagner also won eight international caps for the United States of America during his career on the pitch.
