Nicolas Kuhn is moving closer to the Celtic exit door after Italian media reported that Serie A side Como have struck a £16.5 million deal for the German forward.

Respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano is claiming that all parties have agreed on a move for Kuhn, who was one of Celtic’s most impressive performers last season.

“Como agree deal to sign Celtic forward Nicolas Kuhn on permanent move,” Romano wrote on social media. “Understand transfer fee will be €19m with medical tests to follow, personal terms also agreed in principle. Formal details being clarified and then all signed.”

Kuhn, 25, joined Celtic from Austria Vienna in January last year and after a slow start to his career in Glasgow, he showed excellent form in the 2024/25 campaign, scoring 21 goals and providing 15 assists in 51 matches across all competitions.

Numerous clubs across European football have shown an interest in Kuhn over the past six months, especially after he scored against RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but it is Como – who are managed by Cesc Fabregas and finished tenth in the Italian top flight – who appear set to now win his signature.

A sale of £16.5m would represent a significant profit on Kuhn for Celtic, who they bought from Austria Vienna 18 months ago for a fee in the region of £3m.

Celtic signed wide forward Benjamin Nygren last week from FC Nordsjaelland and the Swede is likely to be a direct replacement for Kuhn. They have also been linked with Antwerp winger Michelange Balikwisha throughout the summer transfer window.

One player that has already left Celtic Park is Greg Taylor, and he yesterday dismissed the notion that the return of fellow left-back Kieran Tierney this summer forced him out.

Taylor sealed a move to Greek side PAOK under freedom of contract after rejecting the chance to extend his six-year stay with the Hoops.

It has been widely speculated that the fact Tierney is expected to be Brendan Rodgers' firstchoice left-back after rejoining his boyhood club from Arsenal was the main factor in Taylor's decision not to sign a new deal.

“I would certainly not say that's fair,” Taylor said in an interview with Sky Sports. “I think there's been competition for my place at Celtic in the whole six years I was there and it was not something I ever shirked from.

“I loved that, it drove me on, it helped me find my best level so, no, I wouldn't say it was particularly Kieran coming back. It was just that I felt that it was probably the right time for me to try something different.”

Taylor, who won 11 trophies and made more than 200 appearances for Celtic, said leaving Parkhead was “the biggest decision” of his career.

“I was lucky to go and play 200-plus games for Celtic which was unbelievable,” he continued. “It wasn't easy, there was a million things to weigh up but I just felt it was the right time to do it.”
