By  Packey @Detroit4lyfe  Jun 8, 2015, 4:54pm EDT This is sad news. Here is the release from the Pistons: AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Pistons announced today that Arnie Kander has informed the organization of his intent to resign as physical therapist effective June 30. Kander has served as a member of the Pistons' training staff since 1992 when he was named the club's first strength and conditioning coach. "Arnie is an innovator who helped define the art of physical training for athletes in our league," said Tom Gores, Principal Owner of Palace Sports & Entertainment, the Detroit Pistons and Chairman and CEO of Platinum Equity. "He's been a great Piston for more than two decades, and on a personal level he...

WSU alum, former Pistons strength and conditioning coach continues successful career

https://today.wayne.edu//news/2016/04/07/wsu-alum-former-pistons-strength-and-conditioning-coach-continues-successful-career-6306 April 7, 2016 As the Detroit Pistons make a run at their first NBA playoff appearance since the 2007-08 season, one Wayne State University alum was on the court for the team’s last NBA Championship in 2004. Arnie Kander spent 23 seasons as the Pistons’ strength and conditioning coach, an innovator in the field who designed and developed the team’s training area in its practice facility to meet the physical conditioning and developmental needs of NBA players. And it all began with an interest in WSU’s physical therapy program. “I loved the physical therapy program because it was very neurologically based,” said Kander, who graduated in 1987 . “I was especially intrigued by the way the mind connects with the nervous system to create muscular movement. And I appreciated Mabel Sharpe, the director of the program at that time, who was a very open and direct teac...

Woody Paige: Nuggets, NBA and NCAA coaching legend would love to see a mile-high championship

I’d love it,’’ the legendary Larry Brown said Thursday afternoon. At 82, the Hall of Famer is still around. He has coached 2,602 games in the pros (with a winning percentage of 57) and the colleges (72 percent victories), and, at 5-foot-9, the Little Big Man of Basketball has been in the sport over seven decades and in more than 20 locales. “But the only way players know me now is to google me,’’ he said by phone from Charlotte. Brown always was a basketball Don Quixote, searching for giants and dragons and tilting at windmills and power forwards. As a young man L...

Morire a San Valentino.

ADRIAN DANTLEY : The Quiet, Misunderstood Scoring Machine

https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1986-01-06-sp-13578-story.html BY THOMAS BONKJAN. 6, 1986 12 AM PT TIMES STAFF WRITER ‘A lot of people don’t know me.  Well, it’s not my business to make sure they know me.  This is my personality,  and people or coaches or whoever are just going to have to adjust to it.  You’re not going to change me.  I won’t be somebody I don’t really want to be.  For that reason, I guess I am misunderstood.'    --ADRIAN DANTLEY Watch Adrian Dantley for very long and you will see him score a lot of points. That is guaranteed. He will also shoot a lot of free throws, that is also guaranteed. Now study Adrian Dantley when he shoots a free throw. He uses the very same motion that he employed at DeMatha High School when he was the top prep player in the country. At one time, you could read Dantley’s lips when he stood at the free-throw line, although he has changed as he has grown older and only speaks these words to himself ...

Top 8 Argentinians Who Made It to the NBA

https://www.bettingsite.org/blog/top-8-argentinians-who-made-it-to-the-nba-24576/ Blake Daniels, June 12, 2020 The South American country Argentina was one of the basketball powerhouses of the early 2000s. The team won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, beating Italy 84-69 in the finals . Team Argentina was also the first national team to defeat an All-NBA U.S. Men’s basketball team when they beat the Americans in the 2002 FIBA World Championships held in Indianapolis. The win at the 2004 Olympics paved the way for Argentinians to receive call ups from NBA teams. Most of the Argentinians who made it to the NBA were members of that fabled team. Here is the list of the players from Argentina who made it to the NBA: Manu  Ginóbili Born in Bahia Blanca, Emmanuel Ginóbili made his professional debut for the Argentinian Basketball League in 1995, playing for La Rioja’s Andino Sport Club. He moved to his hometown’s Estudiantes Bahia Blanca the following year and played th...

DETROIT (MICHIGAN)

di AA. VV.

Reisman: “Quella volta che convinsi Rodman, armato, a venire a Southeastern Oklahoma State”

Immagine
