#2 David Gray - Tdx

Also commonly known as 'Sir David Gray' or simply 'SDG'.

At a time when Hibernian was looking to rebuild after relegation to Scottish football's second tier, there was little fanfare for the free transfer of a right-back from Burton Albion - becoming Alan Stubbs' first signing in the process.

Who could predict that David would go on to become one of the most important figures in the history of the club?

Quickly impressing with his consistency, determination and leadership qualities, he was appointed club captain in the summer of 2015.

Primarily known for his dogged defensive work, he would go on to carve a unique place in the club's history with a moment of inspiration at the other end of the park.

On May 21, 2016, David settled a rollercoaster Scottish Cup Final with his winning header two minutes into stoppage time.

Never one to rest on his laurels, David's influence on the club has grown year on year - which was reflected in the four-year contract extension offered in April 2019 alongside Darren McGregor.

David started off his career at Manchester United - working his way through the ranks alongside some stellar names.

Loan spells with Royal Antwerp, Crewe Alexandria and Plymouth Argyle accelerated his development, ahead of permanent stints with Preston North End, Stevenage and Burton Albion.

But it's fair to say SDG found a home at Easter Road.
