Borussia Dortmund finished in a disappointing 5th place last season, the club’s worst finish since 2015. Thanks to the Bundesliga’s performance in European competitions, Dortmund still snagged a Champions League spot for the upcoming campaign.

Bayern Munich and Dortmund split their Bundesliga matchups, each earning a shutout victory. The rivals almost played a third match in the Champions League final, but Real Madrid’s Joselu scored a pair of late goals to ruin Bayern’s plans.

It will be strange for legend Marco Reus to be absent from the Dortmund campaign for the first time since 2012. Another Dortmund alum, Nuri Şahin, will take over as manager after serving as an assistant for part of last season.
